Our Cass County Music Emporium is located in the quickly growing town of Linden, Texas. Linden is arguably one of the most historically important music towns in Texas. Musicians who called Cass County home include Scott Joplin, T-Bone Walker, Don Henley, The Cass County Playboys (later to become Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys) to mention just a few. There are countless others who never achieved fame or fortune but are as legendary in their own right as those we just mentioned The location and the artists that live in Linden were only part of the reason that Fred Walecki (of Westwood Music), Russ Wright and the hard working people of the town combined economics and experience resulting in the genesis for plans to build a world class music store. Years ago, Fred Walecki and the townsfolk of Linden, along with many well known people in the American music industry, gathered to celebrate the life of their beloved friend and roadie Charlie Allen. Subsequently Richard Bowden and family, Don Henley, Jim Ed Norman, Regan Watson, Larry & Tony Penny, and Charlie & Richard Fernandez began to bond Fred with Linden. It was then that Fred Walecki, the "Linden Economic Development Corporation" headed up by Vietnam F-105 Hero Russell Wright , along with Linden's Mayor Kenny Hamilton put the wheels in motion to bring a serious music store to the 35,000 population of Cass County, Texas. The store will also be reaching out and serving the surrounding states providing a supply of unusual and hard to find products. The Emporium will serve many of the functions that Musicians in the area need. Light manufactuing of high-quality products, as well as retail sales, repairs and lessons will be the basic platform of the store. Our inventory will cover a broad range of musical instruments and accessories. The store will be housed in a 5,000 Sq. Foot building which is in the final stages of remodeling. This is a charming location nestled inside the town square directly accross from Cass County Courthouse which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places . The Town Square has undergone an astonishing 7.2 million dollar facelift which includes historically accurate period lighting and its beloved centerpiece the Cass County Courthouse, the oldest working courthouse in Texas. Don Henley has done a fantastic job restoring the now very historic "Allen Brothers Building" taking extreme measures to make sure everything on the project was accurately recreating the original vision to the last detail. He will undoubtably continue to help Linden by undertaking a similar endeavor with his aquisition of the Fayette Building. Don has been tireless and relentless in his efforts. He has also been selfless with his time and money which in reality saved Caddo Lake (pictured in the background of this page). Linden and Don Henley's renovations of the 400 seat "Music City Theater" have brought people from far and wide infusing the town with renewed vitality, creativity, and energy. Music City Theater has recently been a venue for famous and legendary performers such as George Jones, Jackson Browne, Merle Haggard, Marty Stuart, and of course Don Henley. The emporium is divided allowing seperate spaces for the town's citizens and neighbors to have nice comfortable places in the evenings to see a variety of both local and visiting acts. Attendees will also be free to browse the retail store and tour the various repair shops and lesson rooms if they wish. The showroom will be equipped with a small Bose Concert Sound System . It will be on display for sale and used during shows. |
